Casuarina Hockey Club commenced in 2001 with one HookIn2Hockey/Minkey (U/7) and a men’s and women’s senior team. We have progressed to have approximately 200 members most seasons across at least 6 senior teams and 5-6 junior teams in the 22 years since, and have developed many Tweed, QLD, NSW and Australian representatives from our junior development programs. Early on, our club founders convinced the developers of Casuarina to allocate land for a hockey field and in 2013 they also managed to raise capital through grants and local partnerships to build our clubhouse, at 1 Barclay Drive, Casuarina. This has provided a home for our members and the community to come together and maintain a club culture we are very proud of.

For a small regional hockey club, we are proud to regularly have current players or former juniors playing in the National Hockey One League, or representing their associations, states and country at all levels and age groups. We also have several current and former Australian representatives and Olympic Gold Medalists either playing for or still associated with our club. In 2022, Savannah & Madison Fitzpatrick, who commenced their careers in our inaugural HookIn2Hockey side in 2001, went on to represent Australia Hockeyroos at the Tokyo Olympics and have played more than a combined 170 caps for Australia.

As much as we are proud of the achievements of our representative players, we are also proud to have provided an inclusive social outlet, for our junior and senior members who just want to enjoy playing hockey and socializing with their friends. Our playing members currently range from 5 years old to 73 years old across all age groups and senior grades. Our primary focus is the development and enjoyment of hockey in our community but also providing the opportunity for our players to develop their skills to play at the highest levels they can. We have sides playing in the Hockey Tweed, Gold Coast and Far North Coast hockey competitions, meaning our uniforms are seen on fields anywhere from Lismore to Labrador on any given weekend.

We are very proud of what we have achieved in our short lifetime as a club, and are continually looking to grow our membership, and participation in the game of hockey generally. We welcome all newcomers or players returning to the sport and love welcoming and providing a social platform for new families to the area wanting to make new friends and keep fit in an inclusive and family friendly environment.

Below are some photos of our hard-working members contributing to the construction and finish of our clubhouse in 2013.
